Rail Unions and CBDC
Author: dragoon

If money becomes digital (CBDC), and in control of the central bank, then they will have the authority to prevent you from obtaining your cash. So if workers go on strike, and the authorities don't condone it, strikers' money could be locked out of their cash with no recourse if they have no other sources - ie their bank accounts are frozen. So what are the rail unions saying to their members about this?

Rule G has this covered.

If you are referring to money from a strike fund, that would be pretty crazy for Big Brother to control it.

Not to worry, even little kids have plastic now....no need for paper money.   I will say this: no way in hell will the govt lock any union members bank account because they are on strike.  Maybe Russia or China.

This is pure conspiracy nonsense.  Who are you listening to?

There is precedent in Canada. Trucker protestors and organizers had bank accounts frozen.

I agree, this is nonsense (and not the first time you've posted this sort of thing)..  Whether left wing or right wing, QAnon or whatever, I imagine very very few people on this forum want to waste their time with this stuff.

That was under the Emergency Act, a very specific occurance.

I'm not going to opine on how likely this scenario is, but if you didn't learn over the past few years how much the desire is of those in government to control you, then you'll probably never learn. There is nothing the government won't do to attempt to control you.

Of course it was an emergency. It was also a protest. Of course Trudeau would not use this power friviolously.

I don't know if it's a conspiracy or not, maybe you do and I'd like to know what you know.

Part of the law regarding the Emergency Act is that there has to be a review after it is used to determine if it was used properly.
The public hearings happened a few weeks ago and the results of the hearings should be out in the next few months.
We'll find out then if the act was used the way it was intended.

Last time I checked, Canada and the USA were different countries with different laws.

Laws in the US don't seem to mean that much anymore if you're of the ilk that wishes to be more like Canada.

Oh dear!!!!  Everyone on the review board has had their bank accounts frozen!

Okay, I made that up.  Had to say that before more conspiracy theories got going.

The Department of Labor, National Labor Relations Board etc in the US went through a four year period of making union elections more difficult, strong arming some decertification efforts into reality, ignoring companies efforts to block information, etc.

Fortunately, that has ceased, at least for the next two years.  Nissan is facing a union representation election in Tennessee which begins today.

On another app, we can block this foolish stuff.  Something for TO to consider for the future.

Dragoon, you ask a good question.  I do not know the answer.  I will add that I find nothing conspiratorial about some people, even those in elected positions or government bureaucracy, trying to control others, and abusing their power in their attempts to control others.  If this were not possible, there would be no need for commissions like those looking into Trudeau's actions against the protestors.
