Good coverage.  Engineering special, wonder who all is on a train of that size or is it just a little time out.

So will they take the BNSF through La Junta and Boise City, the turn right at Stratford, TX onto the GSR?

Wait, what?

Is the "Walter Dean" now the "Kenefick"?

It went through Beaumont CA west about an hour ago. Stuck in traffic so no photos and he was doing track speed on his way to San Timoteo Canyon.

What exactly are they looking for on these trips? This seems different than the typical geometry trains. Are they just looking at general infrastructure/ track conditions?

There's generally a review a capital plan on the area covered to insure maintenance dollars are being spent in the right places. Effectiveness of past projects as appropriate. Meet the field managers. Get their feedback. Discuss what's working and what's not.

Some of the old fashioned "fix that low spot" can be observed. Constructive activity in my limited experience. Nothing like seeing it in person.
