Nice variety—really like the solid EMD power on the head end of the coal train

RITZVILLE ACTION
Super sunny weather great for railfanning.
Awesome start with three EMD's leading a mega coal train.
The sun enhances the colorful intermodal trailers and containers.
Unit Of The Day is BNSF #9095, leading the way and the day.

HISTORIC TRACTION
22 - A hot day as driver has all the vents open on that Mack.

Thanks for the awesome lead-off and all the other goodies you posted.

Good trains with NS working as DPU. I noted big shadows in this series. It looks sun rising time.

Both 19 & 20 show cars that survived and continue today at the Southern California Railway Museum in
Perris, CA.

The 1801 is seen in No 19 at the passenger shelter that was adjacent to the 'outbound local' main track at
Watts. Final dedicated service to Watts ended on November 2, 1959 and the 1801 was sold to Orange
Empire Trolley Museum in March, 1960.

The 1450 is at the 'loop' at W 8th St and Western Ave that was built in September 1958 to facilitate turning of
LAMTA's single ended PCC's, one of which we see next to the 1450, about to continue on what had been
the 'outbound' track prior to the building of the loop. It will make the complete turn-around, rejoining the prior
existing tracks in the vicinity of the overhead trolley wires in the background.

I wonder how LARy/LATL/LAMTA described their double tracks---were they as neighbor Pacific Electric did; 'outbound'
and 'inbound' or some other method?

Good stuff as usual, Larry, thanks for posting.  Not only an all EMD consist on the coal train, but all AC power, which is a radical concept in Ritzville.  Well, there are some C4-P4's but still, all AC!

Thanks Charlie on your interesting classroom on Western and 8th with the 1450 and the 1801 activity and that they survived in Perris, CA. Thanks Nick for your always interesting comments. Much appreciated to you both!
