up in southern idaho question
Author: odiex

I going to be in southern Idaho the middle of next week. And I was wondering if anyone could tell me what traffic is running on the nampa sub. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

UP is not as busy as it used to be. About a dozen trains a day it seems like. Two very long intermodal trains in each direction per day. A soda ash train each way, and the rest being mixed trains that are more typical lengths, often with DPU locomotives. There are occasional grain trains, but they are scarce. There are locals that run east and west out of Nampa. The west one departs Nampa around 4pm and works to Ontario 5 weekdays, and a weekend version goes to Huntington early in the day. Boise Valley RR operates a yard in Nampa north of the UP depot and has several locals that start in the morning going in different directions. The Wilder Branch local runs down the main to Caldwell and then out the Wilder Branch.
