You sure get a lot of cool stuff by the house. I've never mentioned before, but it's time for me to say how much your daily reports are appreciated...traction included!

#21.  That is Market and 1st St. The track turning to the right goes down 1st St to the East Bay Terminal where the Key System trains arrived from Oakland.  Muni lines that went there came back to Market St on Fremont, a block east.  After 1949 all seven car lines went to the East Bay Terminal and service down Market St to the Ferry Building for a connection with the Southern Pacific ferry from Oakland was discontinued. SP ferry boat service was eventually discontinued in 1958. Also discontinued in 1958 was the Key System rail service, Southern Pacific steam in regular service, and the  year the old two man Muni streetcars (77-213) were taken out of service.  That was quite a year and, to paraphrase Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a year "that will in infamy."

No 19 is on the 'J-Line' looking north at car 1450 which is approaching the crossing of Santa Fe's industrial
spur that crossed the electric line on Pacific Ave in Vernon, an industrial area south of downtown L.A.
Both the car and the spur remain today; the car at the Southern California Railway Museum in Perris, Ca and
the spur---hopefully still producing revenue for its owner.

No 20 is looking southward on Georgia St at 12th Place, in Los Angeles; home of LARy/LATL/LAMTA's
Division Four car barn. 12th Pl bisected the car barn's yard at roughly the mid-point and the multitude of
trolley wires attest to the importance of its location in railway operations--remaining in service to the end
of electric operations.

Louisville Section - leaving the station

RITZVILLE ACTION
Weather could be better but it beats the days of winter snog.
That lone CAT load and the Geometry Train are definitely super catches.
#7738 definitely was tagged in a big way; wonder where.
Two NS units added interest to the motive power.
Unit Of The Day is BNSF #9385.

HISTORIC TRACTION
20 - Nice "Die Day" photo; I was in High School.
22 - #2215 is a CC&F/Brill Model T-48 Blt 1950;
keep the poles on the wires.

Thank you,Larry, for another posting of action and traction photos.
Your posts are always appreciated and enjoyed.

ALLEN

Thanks Charlie for your interesting classroom on the location of 1450's travels. Also the location of PCC 3003 at Georgia St. yard. Die Day was a sad day for LA transportation on March 31, 1963. Thanks Allen for your fun and interesting reviews, unit if the day and bus model and year built info. I too was in high school on Die Day in LA. Much appreciated to you both.

That's not Hastings. It's East Broadway and the bus has just crossed the Renfrew intersection in the background, working a short westbound trip as far as Oak Street, likely en route to the Oakridge depot.

The bus is wearing the BC Hydro livery adopted in late 1961. The next livery was introduced in 1973. That saw the blue and green stripes replaced with orange and yellow, which lasted until 1977, when orange and brown was instituted. That would be the final livery for the CCF/Brills.
