An Iconic Montana photo location could be yours!
Author: Alco251

We used to say this wea "Montana's Most-Photographed Barn." With the popularity of the "Yellowstone" TV show (shot many miles south of here on Chief Joseph Ranch near Darby) this may well take the second-place spot.

If you're about to pull out your checkbook...here's a warning: it gets windy here.

My son says all the past attendees of Altamont Railfan Weekends past should go in on that property and restart the Altamont weekends in the barn.

162 acres could be subdivided into a nice development.

Don't ruin that part of Montana.

This particular area gets some of the nastiest wind velocities in the west. Great Northern's original bridge here--a wooden structure--was staffed by bridge watchmen during wind events, when there was said to be sway of up to four feet at the center of the bridge.

FYI--$89k will buy you ten acres just to the east of the river with a commanding view of the bridge. Treeless. I wonder why?

I had a train blow off the railroad just west of the bridge, at Bison. It wasn't the first.

Love the third picture on the realty site of the 4449 on the bridge. We lived across a ridge from Mullan Pass from 68 to 72 before moving back to the Ohio valley. I always thought about returning to Montana but what’s happening out there now makes me happy I didn’t. It also makes me very sad.

Many escaping from other states, because they think it’s like the TV show Yellowstone, driven up prices, change the personality of some of the areas of the state.
