I got a tip and went on a minor chase today, in spite of the crappy weather. It’s not very often I get to go down and roam the land of bananas and find a big orange pumpkin upfront, ripe for the pickin’...

1. BNSF 4352 sits at the former fuel rack in Herington, KS. Word is the main line fuel racks built in the Cotton Belt days will never be reinstated. Uncle Pete feels he can do as well with the ubiquitous mobile fuel trucks.

For any follow-up shooting I wanted to find a better setting. Something scenic, in case the afternoon sun came out to play. I kept going further & further away from Herington. I thought maybe I could outrun the overcast soup. I just dunno what the sam-hello I was thinkin’... :^(

2. Here’s the BNSF-led train again. Waaay down at Canton, KS. I found out later this 2x1 outfit was train IG4SIB-24. It was ONLY 12,341 tons & ONLY 14.147 feet looooooooong...
