Having vacationed in Colorado several times, my recollection was that South Park and Creede were in very different parts of the state.  Is my memory off?

Typo in the subject line. The OPs text correctly says South Fork.

One could spend a lifetime exploring Colorado's fascinating narrow-gauge system.

Doing it on a rail bike sounds way cool.

This was never narrow gauge, was the standard gauge line from Alamosa to Creede AND it's
still for sale for something over 3 million at last report.

It was originally built as narrow gauge, with the 3rd rail laid in 1901 and fully SG'ed in 1902 per DRGW.net : https://www.drgw.net/info/CreedeBranch

Thanks for the memory jog, just not one of the lines that I would associate with the narrow gauge.
But then, could be wrong but I do think the whole San Juan Extension was built as narrow gauge,
brain fade has set in!
