Kingman road switcher or Local today
Author: bakersfielddave

Seen passing Kingman  ,AZ  ,West bound  today at 8am with a load of  40 gons  and  7 oil cars  units 7934-5198-5377

seen  headed back east here at 1030 with 5377-5198-7934  but only  10 gons and  7 oil cars

i think those gons have steel bars as loads

usually this train has just 2 units but the extra weight today would have required a third unit presumably

The Kingman mill still gets bars from other mills for rolling, so there is a pretty good chance that is what the gondolas had heading west. I wonder how many had rebar going east. The electric arc furnace is supposed to start operations next year.

I followed the BNSF tracks all the way to the Colorado River and could not find anyplace where tank cars would be going. I guess it is a new facility. Do you know where they go?

On a related subject, near the interchange with the Kingman Terminal RR there are two sidings off of the mainline. In recent satellite photographs they are empty. I have seen pictures of them filled with tank cars from years ago. Does anyone know what that was for?
