CZ Skirts Unusual Morning Thunderstorm

Happy Friday!

Along the front range of the Rockies in the Denver area, afternoon thunderstorms in late spring and summer are all but a given. Morning, on the other hand, typically have clear skies as far as the eye can see. This morning, however, was a bit of an exception as a thunderstorm developed over the Rockies and moved northeast toward the City of Boulder. The contrast between the storm and the partly cloudy skies on the plains was incredible as the westbound Zephyr, running about two hours late, makes it way along the south edge of Big Ten Curve about 20 miles west of Denver.

Wow! That's a nice one... Storm clouds gathering, lots of green grass growing nicely, and the Amtrak looking like it is moving along smartly.

Nice shot! The storm is about to roll over the National Renewable Energy Laboratory - Wind Technology Center, a site chosen partly for its propensity for extreme weather.
