Just heard the West Coast (LA and LB first) Dockwokers have gone out on strike due to the breakdown in wage negotiations.

Looks like it's a work slowdown. People aren't showing up due to "union business" or "religious holiday". At least that's what was reported in one report.

It appears as if this is false news.

  • West Coast ports and terminals are shutting down after union workers walked off the job after a failure in negotiations with port management.
  • West Coast ports have been involved in tense labor negotiations with unions, though recent progress had been cited.
  • The Port of Oakland shut down on Friday morning due to lack of sufficient labor, and operations in Los Angeles were reported to be closing too, including Fenix Marine, the APL terminal, and Port of Hueneme.

The Port of Oakland has been working with very limited numbers of crane operators for months.

If a few guys got sick at the same time, it could gum up the works.

OH NO! Someone better tell the US Navy that port Hueneme has been moved to Los Angeles.
