9/14/23.   After long day hiking at Devils Lake State park I headed over to Portage Amtrak station.  Delayed a little checking in motel with wife and dog and manged to miss Amtrak but figured there would be
some freights following and saw crew arriving.

1-2)  WB pulled in first, departed and then stopped.  Two employees that were waiting  went to other side doing something with one car but it sat there.
         For some reason I stopped it down and then had to rescue these.
3)  Whimsical photo of door at Amtrak station.  Says auto opener but didn't see that.  Station modest but actually fits purpose well.  Heated(not sure of A/c) and reasonably comfortable.
      Does remind me of the old joke, bailing wire and duct tape.  Shopiing bag is updated version I guess but it did the trick for temporary fix.

Nice shots. A lot of memories with the first and last ones.

Nice series. Not sure how long the crew swaps take in Portage, but on UNP they are slow. Sad to see the state of repair on the Amtrak door.

They were in no rush but unknown if needed to wait on line.
