Excellent catch on the new IDOX flat and guard car

If you have a close up shot of the cask on the 12 axle flat would love to see them, they are on the "to model" list

Thanks

Is this a turbine for a power plant?

That appears to be a nuclear cask for hauling spent fuel rods or reactor components.  The military, when they decommission old nuclear ships, sends the nuclear parts by rail in these cars.

These casks are for transporting spent nuclear fuel from commercial nuclear power plants.

Nice surprise, that's a very different look than the Department of Defense nuclear fuel rod casks I've seen in the past.  That caboose looks like it belongs in a Batman movie, never seen anything like it before!

I guess there are kitbashers in the real rail world, too.  Looks like it may have taken 2 or 3 cabeese to make the guard car.  Impressive.  Thanks for posting.

That "caboose" is something else! The only thing that might be missing is twin 50's out of each end of the cupola!
