Northeast Oregon Scenic Train Ride

Virtually no highway access except Yeringtoon Road, the Wallowa Union Railroad operates the Eagle Cap Excursion Train seasonly between Elgin and Kimmell with occasional trips to Minam.Image number one is the train in the meadows above Elgin next to the Grande  Ronde River.The second picture is at Palmer Junction the site old the onetime mill of Palmer Lumber.The third image is near Looking Glass with the Yerington Road Bridge crossing the Grande Ronde River.in the background..September 2023.The line is the former Union Pacific Joseph Branch. Bill Webb

Nice trip, particularly in the fall.  Save some time for the museum at the west end.

Looks like a pleasant and scenic ride. Nice scenery not completely blocked by trees! We have a very popular tourist road that has a great line through miles of tree tunnels!
