Western Railroad Discussion > MRL's LM with 300 axlesDate: 09/18/23 20:36 MRL's LM with 300 axles Author: BrianA On a drive out to the MRL 9-15-23 I managed to intercept the westbound MRL LM with SD70ACe's 4405/4306 at Garrison, MT. After doing a bit of work in the yard the 4405 West was on its way to Missoula, seen here at Gold Creek. Note all the MRL blue covered gondolas, I counted 27 sliced by one BNSF open gon. That's the nice thing about video. Kind of difficult to get all 27 in one photo. Also note the ex-Canadian cylindrical hoppers on the head end. Guess I got lucky with the LM as it could have been anywhere between Laurel and Missoula but just happened to be in the area I was.

From there it goes north on the Kettle Falls line to the lead smelter at Trail BC (via a transload). The MRL ore (I believe...) comes from the Butte/Anaconda MT area and sent to Lonview WA for export. Date: 09/19/23 11:21 Re: MRL's LM with 300 axles Author: UP951West Like your strong MRL video. Thanks for sharing MRL to those of us too far away to see the last year of operation .
