Loaded unit grain shuttle train w/ trailing CSX past Grand Forks.
Author: jmulhol2

A 116-car eastbound (geographically southbound) loaded unit grain shuttle train in a conventional (and "elephant")-style power configuration is seen here passing MP97 on the BNSF Hillsboro Subdivision in Grand Forks, ND, during the sunny and warm mid-afternoon hours of 09/20/2023. This train was originally loaded at the "Berthold Farmers Elevator Co., LLC" grain elevator in Berthold, ND, along the BNSF Glasgow Subdivision just to the north and west of Minot, ND, and is eventually bound for El Paso, TX, to presumably be handed off to a Ferromex crew to take deeper into Mexico for unloading. This train is running what is called "Route B" around these parts; i.e., instead of taking the more direct routing between Minot, ND, and Dilworth, MN, via the BNSF KO Subdivision, this train is taking the longer routing between Minot, ND, and Dilworth, MN, by way of Grand Forks, ND, on the BNSF Devils Lake Subdivision to BNSF Hillsboro Subdivision. On approach to Dilworth, MN, the crew was instructed to take the siding at "Bison" (just to the north of Fargo, ND, along the BNSF Hillsboro Subdivision) to tie down.

Nice one Jake, incuding your details. It's too bad the BNSF didn't have a rested crew in Dilworth, in which case they could have switched crews at the Fargo Yard Office, the new crew then would get a warrant from the Willmar DS and be on their way south. Oops - that's good customer service.
