i was pleasantly surprised today to catch 2 rare trains on video.

the 1st train was a w/b 1x1 intermodal with a lot of ups and fedex traffic on it.  the location was just e/of griffith, az on the bnsf's seligman sub.  i rarely see 1x1 intermodal trains out here.  i have no idea if this was a repo move of mtys or lds.

the 2nd train was w/b 3x2 coal lds in kingman canyon, just w/of kingman, az on the bnsf's seligman sub.  it's been a while since i have caught this train.

a beautiful fall day trackside out here..................

Nice catches 66 of the intermodal and coal trains. The intermodal was rolling right along. Nice to see UPS and Fed-Ex trailers. I don't see much of UPS in the back yard. The coal train looked like it was working hard.

Brand new cars, where does that coal originate?
 

The intermodal was a repo --  B-PHXSBD4-23A   Phoenix to San Bernardino.  These come up the Peavine and onto the Transcon at Williams Jct, usually flipping direction between Williams Jct and Chalendar with a Winslow-Needles crew.  Units on each end speed up the flip.

The coal train is a favorite of mine since we only see it about once-per-month.  C-CCOMCC-010A.  Carbon Coal, Defiance, NM to Mitsubishi Cement, Cushenbury, CA.   10th train this year.

that "transcon flip" at williams jct. makes sense.  i caught that b-phxsbd/b-phxlac at cadiz off of the azca r.r. a few times many years ago.  i guess they couldn't run it over the azca r.r. for some reason........

thanks for this symbol info.  the few times i see this train i usually don't have me camera with me............
