looks like a shoofly can be used on the southbound lanes,  much later,  detours are not close by for the most part

trains can use UP tracks from Bragdon to pueblo

Damn!!!  Looks like a broken wheel hung up on the switch just north of the bridge!

There is another detour, but it is not a major highway.  Purcell Boulevard out of Pueblo West goes up to the Bragdon exit, just north of the closure.  Was still gravel last time i drove that way, oh 35 years ago!!

Sorry for typos, now corrected.

Traffic wise, they can go Purcell to either US50 or Platteville Rd to Dillon Drive which is exit 104 off of I25, it's the exit for the Loves Trauck stop. Thinking train traffic can run south from Bragdon/Tapp Pueblo Jct over the ex DRGW now UP, either way or either mode it's gonna be a mess.  Just got home and started getting messages about this one, (Was actually in Pueblo all day, didn't go north to Bragdon tho) Thought about going back over to possibly get some shots, but thought better of it. Don't want to add to the traffic mess that's happening over there now.  Hope the truck driver comes out ok. Be one hell of a surprise to come upon this while driving north on I25. Hope it's only 1 vehicle involved also.  Gonna be an interesting couple days over there.  Ben

Pretty serious derailment and on a major interstate highway.  I had to roll my eyes for a second reading the last paragraph of the usual uniformed and clueless media.
CBS COLORADO
While the contents of the train cars in Sunday's crash were not immediately known, a CBS News Colorado investigation revealed Colorado ranks 26th in the country for train derailments and that risks of catastrophic hazmat incidents in the Denver metro area were "highly likely," according to one study.

Looking at the last photo makes me think the bridge collapsed, causing the derailment, as there are no derailed cars on the bridge..

What you can't see is all the derailed cars in front of the trailer. If the trucker gets out of t,his ok, he should give up driving. Scary

The driver just needs to have survivable space.

It's a twisted mess but maybe he's ok.

Yes it does appear to be a bridge collapse?

A derailed coaler banged into it?

There are guard rails in these situations right?

Always learning.

Is it known if the truck driver survived yet? There could be other vehicles buried under that mess too.

It appears that the truck driver did not survive. (CNN).

Guard rails are virtually useless in anything other than a minor derailment.

from the cdot cams seems like everyone is not using the longer detours, and are waiting to use the closer in alternatives with huge backups

trains are moving on the UP track
