Night Beep in Barstow
Author: CimaScrambler

I happened to spend the night in Barstow on Friday, and pointed my camera at the unique Santa Fe "Beep" switch engine in the local museum while I was there.

Nice shot Kit! I volunteer at a museum where some of our display items (aircraft) are wired so that some of the navigation and other lights still work. Too bad the museum there couldn't run a line to that so the number boards and other lights still work.

I wonder when the Beep last ran?

It was laid up bad order at Topeka in December 2008 and never returned to service.  It had been the shop switcher prior to that, but I don't know how much actual use it got in its final years.
