Arlington man sentenced to one year in prison for trying to sabotage Union Pacific railroad crossing

An Arlington, Nebraska man is going to prison for trying to sabotage a Union Pacific railroad.

A federal judge sentenced 50-year-old Allen Love Jr. on Thursday.

He'll serve just over one year for trying to disable a railroad crossing in Blair. Love will also have two years of supervised release.

In September 2019, Union Pacific employee found a six-foot long metal pipe lodged between the switch bar and the rail. Investigators found a green metal pipe in Love's pickup truck in April 2020 that matched the pipe lodged in the railroad track.

Says trying to that would mean it didnt in my mind. 

If someone tried that in, say, North Korea or China, do you think he'd get a year in prison?

He would probably have gone from the courtroom to the execution area.  And the family would still be billed immeadiately.

He is not well known for his intelligence or personality. Though there are lots of big time Omaha, Nebraska and Iowa foamers how stand up for him when someone pushes back on his antics. Want to know more PM.

Did they come stand up for him in court?

He was trying to sabotage a crossing or is that just journalists screwing up as usual?

The pipe was placed so as to prevent a switch from being thrown, or to derail a train, or something else?

The guy still had the pipe in his truck seven months later?

Sounds like there might be more to this story...

So...a railfan disabled a (presumably) remote-controlled power switch in the route of a train he wanted to photograph, so that MOW would need to be called and he would have time to set up the shot he wanted?  Or something like that?

Would it make you life better to know the answer? 

He has been ostracized since his "brother" caused the head on wreck at Kennard, NE during a chase of the 844. If he had any supporters left, it would have been the true diehards who believed every word he uttered. Truth be told, I am fairly certain no one spoke on his behalf in court because there would not have been sitting behind a keyboard in a dark room.

I really don't care and wish him a very warm welcone at the USP Yankton, SD.

I remember him being on a few railroad forums some years back.  As I recall he got removed from most of them.  Hadn't heard anything about him for years.

if there had been a train derailed or damage, he would probably be facing more than a year...
