Western Railroad Discussion > Winter Park Express Departs Denver

This morning I had an appointment early but was late enough that I could shoot the Winter Park Express as it left Denver for Winter Park, a ski resort at the west end of the Moffat Tunnel. I was pleased to see I had clears skies as this was the first opportunity I had to get out and shoot what used to be known as the Ski Train.

Photo #1 & 2- Amtk 169 leads the train through C&S Junction. The track that comes in at the bottom of the frame is the BNSF's (C&S) branch line that runs to Golden.

Photo #3- A going away shot showing the Front Range that the train will soon be climbing towards the Moffat Tunnel and Winter Park.

It was nice to get out on a very nice morning! Thanks for looking.

Consist is, from front to back, Coach, Coach-Baggage, Lounge-Snack Bar, Coach-Baggage, Coach.
Bidirectional consist that has enough room for skis and snow boards.

It is truely amazing how much overhead wite is in use in the Denver Metro area, with more to come.  And still the Denver Interstate highways are a nightmare of heavy traffic.

A SUPERLINER lounge, at least not in storage. A 35000 series could suffice.
