top: another a bit further east. middle: UP coal empty shoved back into SW interchange yard in Deming. Must be returning via BNSF and Rincon? Can't be too many former SP painted AC's left? bottom: next stop Freeport McMorant Arizona Eastern interchange point in Clifton, AZ. Neat place, countries steepest grade coming off the hill and tiny six track interchange yard that has to take a bit of cooperation to accomplish. Never got to see the actual exchange for reasons later. Any visit should be in the A.M. hours. Arrived 1400 hrs with nothing moving before leaving at sun down. . . . six more to come . . . top: first move of the morning observed for Freeport McMorant was coming down from end of line with acid cars. middle: a little further down the hill, and I do mean hill. bottom: a little further down the hill near the first small yard. . . . last three . . . Author: 3rdswitch . . . after taking the last couple of roster photos ran across a second set of five units that I have no idea where hiding, they would be taking the twenty four car train down the hill for interchange which was the main reason I went was to witness the train coming down the incredible grade. While attempting to get to small dirt pile for some elevation right quad tendon snapped and down I went thus ending my entire trip. After some x rays, evaluation, leg brace and release not to be totally defeated caught the original four units descending lite power behind the Morenci Urgent Care parking lot while leaning on crutches. Ahh, the perils of aging. As Arnold would say, "I'll be back".

Apologies, that's actually the Freeport, McMoran Copper and Gold at Morenci/Clifton in Arizona. It interchanges with the Arizona Eastern in Clifton, AZ. Edited 1 time(s).
