Western Railroad Discussion > Long hood forward on a short local in the West Desert.Date: 02/25/24 20:08 Long hood forward on a short local in the West Desert. Author: Paniolo_man Since it was forcasted to break 60 degrees today in Salt Lake CIty I decided it was a good day to head out to the desert. I parked at the junction to the former Marblehead Branch several miles west of Delle, UT. The track takes a long curve through a little valley, I walked across the curve since any video would have less sun glare from that angle. I had hoped for something big like an intermodal train or a Valmy Coal Train. However in my 3 hours out in the sun I was only greeted by a familiar local. They seem to always run long hood forward out here, there must be a good reason. At least I had outside time to sit down and read a book. Driving back into Salt Lake City I passed the Valmy Coal train headed west. Someday I'll actually plan ahead and wait for a container train in SLC and head it off out on this curve.
I am hoping to get a better camera this summer, pending other budgetary items. You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today! Date: 02/25/24 21:07 Re: Long hood forward on a short local in the West Desert. Author: miralomarail Things can be worse, you got some nice video
