Western Railroad Discussion > A Dash9 motor shoving hard on rear of Beltrami, MN loaded grainerDate: 02/27/24 21:06 A Dash9 motor shoving hard on rear of Beltrami, MN loaded grainer Author: jmulhol2 A solo GE C44-9W, BNSF #4620 (built: 01/2000), serves as the lone DPU on this 116-car Beltrami, MN ("West Central Ag Services" grain elevator) --to-- Vancouver, WA ("United Grain Corporation" Vancouver Export Terminal) westbound loaded unit grain shuttle train in a 1x1 power configuration as it is seen here exiting the far west end of the BNSF Grand Forks, ND, train yard and entering the BNSF Devils Lake Subdivision during the partly sunny and breezy noontime hour of 02/26/2024. This train would only make it as far as the siding at Emerado, ND, before tying down. An additional motor will likely need to be added to this train at a later time in order for this long and heavy train to attack the grade as it climbs out of the Red River ("of the North") Valley, encountering elevated terrain features such as "Niagara Hill" between Grand Forks, ND, and Minot, ND.
