"Route B"-running westbound vehicle train passing Grand Forks, ND
Author: jmulhol2

A 84-car Dayton's Bluff, MN--to--Portland, OR westbound vehicle train in a 2x0 power configuration is seen here passing MP1.25 on the BNSF Devils Lake Subdivision during the mostly cloudy and slightly foggy mid-morning hours of 03/14/2024. This train is running what is called "Route B" around these parts, which is where trains take the longer routing between Dilworth, MN/Fargo, ND and Minot, ND via the BNSF Hillsboro Subdivision to the BNSF Devils Lake Subdivision via Grand Forks, ND instead of the more direct routing between Dilworth, MN/Fargo, ND and Minot, ND via the BNSF KO Subdivision. Interestingly, the front half of this train was made up of empty autoracks whereas the latter half of this train was made up of loaded autoracks.

Train symbol: V-DBUPTS

Power:
BNSF #7152 (GE ES44C4; built: ??/2013)
BNSF #5314 (GE C44-9W; built: 06/2001)

Nice catch Jake. I guess the DS figures a vehicle train, empty or loaded, can handle the westbound grades on the Devils Lake Sub with no strain.keep those video coming1
