EMD on UP
Author: erb0219

1.  NS SD70M-2 leads MG3AH through Maple Park, Illinois on a stormy morning of March 25, 2024.  A few of these reactivated EMD's have led recently on the UP.

2.  An unrebuilt GP40-2, 1454, is power for the Sterling Local, LPG04.  Seen here in Rochelle, Illinois shoving out to the main from cold storage.  There is a small interchange yard there for UP to give/receive cars from the BJRY that services most of the Rochelle industries around town. March 21, 2024

3.  A clean KCS SD70ACe leads a Tuscola grain empty upgrade through Creston, Illinois.  GSPXTC 22.  This old grain elevator had spur years ago, but has been removed by UP 10 or so years ago.  March 23, 2024.

Interesting large UP shield (with the subtle white outline) on the 1454. I haven't seen anything like that on a standard cab before -- there were some locos, like the rebuilt 48xx SD45T-2s, that had shields with white outlines in the late 90s, but not of this size.

I believe this logo is the experimental one, that was used on the first repaints of the new paint scheme, a couple of years ago.  I was surprised by this on the 1454, can't be many standard cabs with this logo.  Only a few were done, then they switched to a smaller logo(good!!).
