Old Paint One Way, Heritage Paint the Other Way
Author: Agent

I caught two trains this evening on BNSF's Ottumwa Subdivision at Agency, Iowa in ten minutes.  Both trains were notable with what paint schemes were on the front of them.

1) First was eastbound local freight L-CHI664 with a pair of patched Santa Fe Dash 9s up front still in the warbonnet paint scheme.  BNSF (ex-ATSF) 685 was 664's leader.

2) BNSF (ex-ATSF) 636 trailing.

3) Third in line is B40-8W BNSF 541 which is also ex-Santa Fe but it's been repainted in the current BNSF scheme.

4) The local splitting the signals east of town shows there's an approaching westbound.

5) The westbound is the California Zephyr running on time with 50th anniversary heritage unit AMTK 161 leading. Nice wave from the engineer too.

6) Another shot of 161 in Phase I.

Thx for posting. You must have heard one heck of a horn blast that close to the crossing.
