Amtrak's Winter Park Express stopped by rock slide and returning to Denver. Power was moved from West End to East End at Rollinsville Colorado, about 9:15 AM, Friday, 29 March 2024.
Video - NO sound - Amtrak 174, P42DC Phase VII scheme, exited Union Pacific's tunnel 1 near Plainview, Colorado, with the Winter Park Express, train 1105. That would be the ideal way of finding out a slide has occured. The worst way, of course, would be to have a train come upon it, especially at night. That doesn't always turn out so well.

For the last 10 -14 days I've heard the slide fences just west of Plain going off intermittently so I can't say I;m surprised....
