Author: zephyrus The 2024 Western Pacific Railroad Historical Convention will be running from Thursday, April 11 to Sunday, April 14 at the Feather Falls Casino Resort in Oroville, California!
Convention pre-registration and discount fares are being EXTENDED to Sunday, April 7. The pre-registration fares will end at midnight, April 7. ALSO, if you just want to attend one day, the Friday or Saturday, we are offering DAY PASSES to enter the vendor room and check out the presentations that day. Day Passes are $20 each and will be sold at the door. To register for the convention, please go online at https://westernpacificstore.mybigcommerce.com/2024WPConvention and select your convention options. If you are attending the convention, you can also join or renew your FRRS membership for half price, and buy the special convention car! You can also visit the convention webpage for info and to download a mail-in registration form: https://www.wplives.org/news_items/2024_Western_Pacific_Historical_Convention.html Please do not mail after April 4 to ensure they arrive in time. There will be layout tours and a tour of the Oroville Dam and Oro Dam Railroad ROW. (Sign ups for Oro Dam tour will open shortly) Presentations and clinics: Chris Skow - Work Trains of the Western Pacific Eugene Vicknair - Photo / Slide Scanning and Retouching Greg Elems/Alan Barrett - Tidewater Southern Freight Trains Mark Freiberg/Larry Goss - Early 1980's WP with Greg Elems narration Kerry Cochran - WP ACF 3-Bay Covered Hoppers Dale Sanders - Railroads affected by the construction of the Oroville Dam Jeff Asay - SN freight operation in the 1970's Mark Bassett - WP and Nevada Northern worked together Mark Bassett - WP tricked the Nevada Northern at Shafter Jim Atkins - First Five years of service on the WP Shane Starr - N-C-O RR Stuart Swiedler - SN in Oroville Gus Paoli - WP's interactions with the N-C-O Clair Phillips - CSRM And modelers, please bring your WP family models (including SN, TS, CCT, ABL, OT and connections like the Quincy, Clover Valley, etc.) We would like to share and exhibit everyone's great model work, even if you don't want to enter the contest. Author: zephyrus We have 2 programs on Thursday, but the bulk of the shows will be on Friday and Saturday. Layout tours will be the same on Thursday and Friday evening and some layouts will also be open on Sunday. Sunday is also the Oroville Dam / Oro Dam Railroad tour, which requires sign up to be open soon.
