Thunderous 1x2 Erskine, MN -to- Galesburg, IL loaded grain train.
Author: jmulhol2

A 116-car Erskine, MN (loop track at the "CHS Northern Grain - Erskine Grain Terminal, LLC" grain elevator) --to-- Galesburg, IL eastbound (geographically southbound) loaded unit grain train in a 1x2 power configuration is seen here thundering past MP96 on the BNSF Hillsboro Subdivision in Grand Forks, ND, during the breezy, warm, and mostly sunny mid-to-late afternoon hours of 04/05/2024. These loaded three-bay covered hopper cars are likely to get chopped into chunks to be put on outbound trains originating at the BNSF Galesburg, IL, train yard. Given that the there is only a single-direction entrance at the "CHS Northern Grain - Erskine Grain Terminal, LLC" grain elevator in Erskine, MN, along the BNSF Grand Forks Subdivision means that this train more-than-likely ran inbound empty in a 2x1 power configuration before reversing direction upon being loaded and released by the elevator to this BNSF crew seen here. Lastly, one of the loaded three-bay covered hopper cars was labeled "Ferromex" - long way from home!
