Stockton Terminal and Eastern boxcars question
Author: zephyrus

Are any of these still in operation or intact but parked anywhere?  I know there are two carbodies on the ground at the ST&E shop in Stockton, CA.

I posted this question about 6 years ago and the feeling was they were all scrapped about 2010.  Just wondering if a couple might still have survived.

TIA!

I have not see any in many years. I used to see them regularly.

I distinctly recall sending many STE boxes to the scrapyards on Terminal Island, CA when I was with the PHL back around that time.  We probably had a hundred or more come in over a course of time, maybe 3-6 months.  Scrap was good business at the time and the two SA recycling plants on the island kept quite busy cutting up aged out railcars.

Might be a glitch, but STE 2108 is still in the UMLER database. It has a restricted interchange tag.
