Western Railroad Discussion > Fire Damaged UP GE at Conlen TX on the GSRDate: 04/11/24 19:16 Fire Damaged UP GE at Conlen TX on the GSR Author: tferk TO member Milwaukee posted a question on 4/6 about this unit. I had passed by a day earlier and grabbed some photos. From an Amarillo news site: "According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, a 2012 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer (tanker) was traveling south on FM 807 in Conlen, while a Union Pacific Train was traveling northeast." The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Conlen is between Dalhart and Stratford on Union Pacific's Pratt Subdivision, a part of the Golden State Route.

I first thought it might've been a GE toaster that got out of hand, but then I saw it was mostly the cab blacked and I said to my wife "ooof, maybe not so good for the crew". Didn't stop to look closer, although easily could've. |
