Getting Around to the Point
Author: funnelfan

Modoc Point is the point where the north end of Upper Klamath Lake parts ways with the Modoc Rim and was always a key point in transportation along the lake, a steam boat landing before the roads and railroads were cut into the rugged slope. Here a southbound UP freight works it's way shore of the lake between Modoc Point and Algoma heading toward Klamath Falls, OR. May 23rd, 2019.

Wow! Great photos. I was above the lake shooting years ago, in fact the location of my first video of an eastbound SP train.
Were you using a drone?

Very NICE series of Modoc point and upper Klamath Lake. I miss seeing that area in SP days.

Nope, no drone. Just out on a outcropping on the slope of the rim.

I love the KF area and the lake.

Looks like the train (and other manifest trains I've seen in that area) run short enough to actually fit the short-ish controlled sidings on this route.
