Union Pacific intermodal train (direction unknown) derailed 35-cars at Chappell, Nebraska, Sunday afternoon, 14 April 2024 blocking both tracks.

I just found it on Google Maps.

the derailment is right by the grain elevators. theres some images and videos coming out of IG already.  Z train it looks like.  Town was evacuated, no reason report to news yet.

Wow! That's whatcha call a good ol fashioned pile up right there! Thanks for adding that Lance. I must have missed it the first time around. I agree, it looks waaay better in your photos. With trains on the track and upright!

The green circles are the patterns resulting from center pivot irrigation.  The irrigated crops being grown are mostly corn, beans and hay.  Sugar beets are also grown in the Nebraska panhandle, but not so much in Deuel County.

Going with the percentages, bad wheel, broken car axle, dragging equipment, or bad switch point.  Train likely "picked the switch."   Just speculation on my part.
