ATSF up front and BNSF in the rear

With Santa Fe cigar band proudly displayed on the nose, BNSF 717 slows to a stop at Verdemont on the Cajon Sub this morning. Still looking pretty good as she nears age 27.

I'll second that! For the most part the 700's and 4700's red paint have fared pretty well.

Does still look pretty good, to me the subdued lighting also helps the colors to pop...

27 years old...I can remember when they were brand new!   Impressed with the photo and glad there is still some decent looking red and silver out there.

Always appreciate seeing a warbonnet leading today…unfortunately we never get any on the trains I’m on…they all have a defect for DP for some reason or another…so they can’t lead on the heavy monsters that we get.

They are owned outright by the company, same as the 1000’s…or they’d be gone…hopefully that keeps them around for several more years.
