Twelve Minutes of Action at Clarendon Hills
Author: kevink

Thanks to some timely information that Amtrak #5 was delayed out of Chicago this afternoon I was able to catch it coming through Clarendon Hills IL on tje BNSF Chicago Sub after alighting from my Metra train. Between 6:10 and 6:22 pm, six trains rolled by.
1. Metra 189 with a westbound
2. BNSF 5233 with a westbound local
3. UP 700557 on that westbound local.

Great series!  The coal train was E-CNMNAM0-35B.  The local cleared at Cicero, and the tank train went to Clearing Yard.

Tuesday morning update, tjhe train led by BNSF 6587 was parked in BNSF’s Western Avenue this morning. This means it’s probably HNTWNSI (Northtown, MN to Norfolk Southern) via 18th Street at the east end of the Chicago Sub.

Wouldn;t it be the GALNSI. Last I heard there wasn't a NTWNSI.

Maybe Mark, but others have told me that NS doesn’t run a train to or from Galesburg.

Here’s some more freight car photos from the westbound.
