Western Railroad Discussion > Big Horn SubDate: 04/17/24 07:12 Big Horn Sub Author: swaool I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that the Big Horn sub, particularly the part between Gillette and Sheridan WY, is one of BNSF's least photographed mainlines. Here's a westbound train of empty hoppers likely headed to the Dutch sub and one of the mines around Decker for reloading. Oriva is the first siding west of Gillette. 4/12/2024.

I've done it twice and have been semi-lucky both times. And between Orriva and Echeeta, the line is out of sight, which doesn't help matters. Thanks for posting.

I was eating breakfast at the Village Inn in Gillette when a Boeing train was arriving for a crew change in Gillette, I gulped my coffee and got ahead of the train at Oriva, To my pleasant surprise it was stopping there, holding the main for an eastbound. Great day and memories indeed.. Thanks for posting.
