Western Railroad Discussion > Traffic levels on the Ex Soo (Portal to MSP)Date: 04/21/24 04:51 Traffic levels on the Ex Soo (Portal to MSP) Author: Asheville_G With the upcoming 2816 run, it got me thinking about opposing traffic.
What’s the current traffic levels like on the Ex Soo (CPKC) between the Canadian border at North Portal down through Minot to the Twin Cities? Any idea what symbols are used on movements? Appreciate any insight. But it is the key line between the US and western Canada. All CTC now with 49 MPH running.

The line from Portal to Glenwood, MN (west of Minneapolis) got upgraded within the last few years, I'm guessing around the time that the oil trains were running hot and heavy. the line from Glemwood to Minneapolis has alway been CTC as far as I can remember.
