1x2 Galveston, TX --to-- Warren, MN loaded unit fertilizer train.
Author: jmulhol2

An 85-car eastbound Galveston, TX ("ADM Grain Co." facility) --to-- Warren, MN ("CHS Inc." facility) loaded unit fertilizer train -- mostly made up of white "GATX" three-bay covered hopper cars -- in a 1x2 power configuration is seen here slowly entering the far west end of the BNSF Grand Forks, ND, train yard during a heavy graupel (i.e., soft, mushy hail) shower amid the blustery late morning hours of 04/19/2024. This train was told to tie down on the "passenger main" track and contact the "Power Desk" to potentially leave one of their three total motors in the yard. A later outbound crew would eventually be called out to untie this train and continue onward eastbound into Minnesota.

Didn't know those GATX were fertilizer.  Thought they were grain.  Nice video in some strange weather.

What's the fertilizer used for? Where did
it come from?
