wedge tornado between Waterloo and Elkhorn, NE. Many homes damaged in the Waterloo area. I am watching this live on the Ryan Hall YouTube channel. There is a video taken from the cab by a member of the crew circulating around social media. Very dramatic footage. Crew is safe so that’s the best news.
Pretty decent damage to the lead motors. Broken windows, covered in mud, sunshades peeled back, handrails bent, long hood doors blown open. Seems to be a good number of cars blown over. This tornado eventually passed about 5-6 miles west of me. I got a few photos of its mass of debris, but debris and rain blocked the view of the funnel itself. It was moving about 40 miles per hour, and it was very impressive how fast it looked to be moving even that far away. At latest count there were 9 tornadoes in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Who really knows the correct number? One is too many. AT least no one has been reported killed, even among the homeless sleeping under a bridge.
