Gloom on the KP
Author: santafe199

Sometimes the weather is so bad it’s good. Of course, it helps to have Photoshop to play with...

1. UP 6062 makes a gloomy pass by the Stagg Hill Golf Course (out of frame on the right) in the Eureka Lake area of SW Manhattan, KS. There is a small handful of bootleg cars up front on this unit tanker.

2. The 6th St overpass is being rebuilt in Junction City, KS. Also doubling as the KS hwys 18 & 57 pathway through town, there have been many iconic photographs taken off this bridge over the long years: ( UP #17 in Junction City (trainorders.com) ).

3. “It’s all dark now!” Shooting from what would normally be the dark side of the train I was able to pose this derelict T-Bird in the foreground just east of Chapman, KS. That’s “Old 40 Hwy” in between.

4. Now crossing Mud Creek on the west side of Abilene, KS.

5. & 6. The 6062 is leading the train into the “siding” at Cozy in east Salina, KS. “The sun may never shine again...” ;^)

7. The 6062 crew is bringing the bootleg cars into Salina proper while an NS unit waits to lead train SITP out of town back to the east. I had to lighten this image up a lot to get some extra detail...

8. More Photoshop shenanigans... :^) NS 1807 is leading UP train SITP on the main at Cozy (Salina), but is stopped for the moment tending to unknown chores. The bulk of that unit tanker is parked in the siding.

Mud Creek? More like mud everywhere! Lots of interesting colors and visuals in that batch.
