IL: How is the Chicago freight traffic jam coming along?
Author: Lackawanna484

A few years ago, the uproar du jour was gridlock in freight railroad interchange in Chicago. Days to dray a box across town, shipments "lost" in the huge piles of containers.  Trains held out for lack of space, etc.

I haven't heard any of that in quite a while.  Has the problem worked itself out?

From what I've seen--and heard from others--it's no better now than it was two or three years ago.

UPRR ripping up most of the Proviso hump and dumping most of that into Clearing didn’t help, except for the OR, I’m sure it helped that.

As someone who deals with the Chicago area everyday, it is much better than it was.
