Maersk-MSC Alliance Ending

Maersk and MSC are ending their alliance at the end of this year and it had me wondering what effects it may have on railroads?

Should be none as before the "alliance" both companies loaded solid trains at least in the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

Figured it could be as simple as this. So we’ll return to solid trains of Maersk and MSC rather than having them mixed together on trains.

Well, not necessarily solid trains, as Maersk and Hapaag-Lloyd are joining forces in February 2025 as the Gemini Cooperation.   Hapag-Lloyd will be leaving "THE Aliance", which consists of Ocean NetworkExpress (ONE), Yang Ming and HMM.

And OCEAN Alliance (CMA CGM, Cosco Shipping, Evergreen and OOCL) announced in February this year a 5-year extension to that patnership.   MSC will be the only stand-alone.
