Led Zeppelin Too (II)
Author: santafe199

Here’s my promised follow-up to Thursday’s late thread mixing classic rock music & railfanning. Enjoy... :^)

1. UP 7963 has stopped with a 3+ mile long manifest monstrosity at the Kuenzli Rd crossing because they were informed that Topeka doesn’t yet have the room for them to do the block switching they need to do. General scene looking more or less west @ 230mm from the E Springfield Rd crossing.

Then I realized a bit of magic was taking place. (see this link*: Led Zeppelin caused this! ).

2. & 3. After becoming so pumped up with 55 year-old classic rock music history I was further blessed with a front row seat to watch the Master Artist put on a special sunset show. Just for lil’ ol’ me! I watched as the sun literally burned its way out of an overcast cloudbank on its path down to the horizon. I had my D7100 in “machine-gun mode”, rifling through over 100 shots from slightly different angles just on this sequence. This was to increase the odds that I would at least end up with a few sharp images. Hand-holding a long telephoto setting can be dicey at best. Even at a 400th of a second. Images taken @ 230mm & 240mm respectively.

Just one more! After speaking with the crew, offering them some copies... :^)

4. UP 7963 stopped eastbound at the Kuenzli Rd crossing. 38mm wide angle distortion corrected in Photoshop.
4 photos taken at Paxico, KS (siding) on October 24, 2024.

Thanks for looking!

*Today’s thread title, coincidental to the name of Led Zeppelin’s second album was of course chosen on purpose! DJ Sir L

More great sunset stuff, esp. love that 3rd shot. I'm glad Zeppelin pumped you up enough to not lay that camera down!  :>)
