Western Railroad Discussion > Big Boy in night time profileDate: 10/29/24 06:45 Big Boy in night time profile Author: santafe199 I’ve always tried to shoot the best images I can when chasing & shooting Uncle Pete’s steam. I liked to feel like I was helping in some small way to give the UP steam program some good PR from a public perspective. Especially while these historic engines are parked in their various overnight spots. But with the recent appearance of that horrid day-glo orange, “keep away from my toy” fencing & barricading in Salina I guess I’m all done trying to make the Big Boy look good there.
1. UP 4-8-8-4 #4014 parked overnight in Salina, KS. Look close around the running gear and you’ll see the “protection” around the scene... Photo taken October 17, 2024. Thanks for looking! Date: 10/29/24 09:28 Big Boy as night fell- Denver, CO Author: cozephyr Lance, I know where you are coming from regarding orange cones posted around the UP 4014 Big Boy. I got lucky early evening October 22, 2024 before the cones were deployed at UP's North Yard, Denver, Colorado. Rain from October 21st left some puddles.
