Western Railroad Discussion > Kitson Meyer in ArgentinaDate: 10/31/24 06:34 Kitson Meyer in Argentina Author: masterphots As an addendem to boilingman's post about the Chilean Kitson-Meyer engine, here is a photo of one on the Argentine side of the Trans-Andine Railway. EFEA Kitson-Meyer No. 42 (Kitson & Co. CN 4669, built in 1909)
simmers at Mendoza, Argentina on 12/3/72. By this date, the auxiliary cylinders and rack mechanism had been removed. The line in Argentina having been dieselized with GE-Alco shovel noses, the Kitson was working its final days as a switcher in the flat Mendoza area. Were they still operating?

A remnant of the Belgrano Ry is now a trolley operation, using former San Diego trolleys. Still in red but with the Mendoza transit logo. Within a few miles of centro Mendoza, there is a freight operation from Palmyra to Canada Honda which haul gravel trains. At Palmyra, it joins the mainline east to Buenos Aires. Gravel from the nearby dry riverbeds is a principal source of building material for the nation. Date: 10/31/24 08:37 Re: Kitson Meyer in Argentina Author: LTCerny Why isn't this on the international board?
Date: 10/31/24 09:10 Re: Kitson Meyer in Argentina Author: Gonut1 Who cares what board this is on? It is clearly stated that this is an addendum to a former post on THIS board. That is a strange and complicated piece of machinery! Very interesting locomotive.
Gonut Date: 10/31/24 09:30 Re: Kitson Meyer in Argentina Author: 90mac That's an AMAZING little spud!
Love the looks of it. TAH Date: 10/31/24 09:32 Re: Kitson Meyer in Argentina Author: callum_out That truly fits the old "ORO" description, and I'd bet there aren't a lot of color shots od that locomotive,
great post. Out Date: 10/31/24 09:43 Re: Kitson Meyer in Argentina Author: ATSFSuperCap Do you have the date of SR's post on the Kitson Meyer? I looked back a week or so and only see his incredible series on Atacama.

Continuity is important for clear understanding. Date: 10/31/24 11:50 Re: Kitson Meyer in Argentina Author: misty1 You are hollering about being in the wrrong forum. Does that mean I can't post a NS engine west of the Mississippi river on the west board. What about the guys on the east board posting UP and BNSF. By your standard(which you don't have) I enjoy seeing what is posted and I don't care which board it's on.
