A westbound manifest train roars out of the remote west portal of the 7 mile-long Flathead Tunnel between Whitefish and Libby, Montana, October 11, 2001, two decades after the opening of the "Flathead Cutoff" between Riverview and Stryker, Montana, paid for by the US government as part of the Libby Dam construction project.

A great shot at a remote location!  Hard to believe this was almost a quarter century ago.
