Is he a railfan...

...or is he just taking a shortcut to hobo jungle?

1. This man could be about to turn his attention to the train stopped over on the right. I’m looking NNE from just north of the Sardou Bridge in Topeka, KS. UP 9647 waits its turn to proceed through north Topeka.

FYI: That truncated track on the far left is the former AT&SF Atchison District main track running up to its namesake town, and on to St Joseph, MO.

Thanks for looking!

Maybe just a refreshing walk down the ROW, have you ever tried that?

Definitely too clean to be headed for the hobo camp…unless he’s going to just toss a grenade in there on the way by.

I met an old dude one day walking the Conrail mainline 2 track ROW. He said his heart doctor told him to walk every day so he did on the ROW. He said he liked taking pictures of all the deer along there. They cross the tracks to get to the river. This was just before NS took over and I often wondereed if the NS Gumshoes every "caught" him and fined him the usual $300 trespassing fine. They di catch my neighbor for riding his 4 wheeler on the tracks to get to some old settling basins that are a popular place to off-road.
