Dead in Tow GP30
Author: aohunt

This morning I was very surprised to see a GP30 dead in tow on an eastbound UP freight on the Ames, Iowa Steel Highways railcam. MCBCH 11 had SW 2468 behind two UP's, and would set the geep out at Beverly around 1100. These views are at Fairfax, Iowa.
The UP yardmaster was overheard telling the train the unit is going to Iowa Northern. I didn't go back to Beverly this afternoon but would guess SW 2468 would be on the Beverly to downtown Cedar Rapids drag on Tuesday, and IANR would pick up Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

Perhaps this is new power for the new Waterloo Railroad?

Thanks, Al.  You're probably right about where this engine is going.  And given the number, I'm guessing ex-BNSF, Nee-ATSF.
