Late chase, early thread + Photoshop
Author: santafe199

Yesterday afternoon I returned the loaner, got my rig outta the shop and decided to take an impromptu roadtrip. Per nearly 50 years of pure habit, I had my camera gear in tow. It was overcast when I left Manhattan, but I could see a small patch of almost blue sky in the west. Westward ho! I got to visit the Smokey Valley in Abilene and see the new passenger cars they now have on property. Going further west I intercepted Uncle Pete’s “local #86” coming east through Ike. With nothing promised I reversed course and chased this 2-unit local back to Junction City where I ran out of sunlight. But not before getting a really nice final sequence. In the image below I took a major photo-editing liberty and deleted some really obnoxious overhead wires. It made this shot SO MUCH more edible! In the near future I’m sure I’ll post 1 or 2 of the other sequence shots right after this one. And I may or may not work the same Photoshop trickery. You’ll just have to wait and see... :^)

1. UP 1402 is eastbound with local #86 at Junction City, KS. That shack is on the site of the original JC depot.

Thanks for staying up to take a look!

Great job with the wires. And great light, too.

I really would like to see somebody (more skilled than me) demonstrate their photoshop skills by talking a northeast corridor pic and removing all the wires, except for the one that the locomotive is under. Just for yucks, I think the result could be hilarious.
